The Gemini is a client and like all other clients is connected to the Genie to access recordings and use a tuner, they don't use your home network. The only 1080P programs DTV has are a few PPV movies, all broadcast channels use 1080I or 720, any 1080P programs will be sent by the Gemini if selected.

Thank you. I was told by a directv rep on the phone that a Gemini is able to produce 1080p quality on every HD channel so that is why I chose to get one along with a new 24 month commitment. So that was inaccurate information, am I correct? If so, I have until Wednesday to cancel the gemini and professional installation. Thanks again.

Most DTV H and HR and C receivers can upscale to 1080p so the Gemini is no different.
