Whole Home DVR Service with one receiver

I only have one receiver. I'm being charged $3 monthly for Whole Home DVR Service. Why?

All Genies require Whole Home even if you can't use it.

If you have only one box, so just one TV, then you have a Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54). This is DirecTV's Advanced Whole Home HDDVR. Just like all HD boxes require HD service, this requires HD, DVR, and Whole Home DVR. Unlike a traditional DVR/HDDVR which has 2 tuners, your Genie has 5, so could be considered at least 2 boxes in one if it helps you justify it in your own mind.

The only way to remove the $3 would be to do an "upgrade" to a regular HDDVR. Only Genie setups require the service. Even if you had multiple regular HDDVRs, or mixed in with HD non-DVRs, Whole Home DVR would be optional if you didn't have a Genie.
