Packages Choice and above include your Regional Sport Networks (RSNs). Cost used to be hidden within the package cost, but a few years ago they itemized it and base the charge on your region (similar to tax) so that it is transparent. You don't sign up for it as it is not optional.
Though the fee is not optional (based on your package), if you don't watch sports at all, you could call and see if Preferred Xtra is still available. Since it doesn't have RSNs, no RSN fee.
