Price Increase after 12-month Discount
So a month ago, I received an email from DTV stating that I would be receiving a $10 credit on my bill for the next 12 months. So I would save $120 for the year? Great, huh? I figured DTV was FINALLY doing something to help customer retention.
So that lasted one billing cycle, and then DTV increased the price of my particular package by $10. So, in actuality I'm not saving anything, and when the 12-month "discount" is over, I will be paying $10 more overall on my bill. Seems like some kind of false advertising or chicanery to me.
Anyone else notice this? And does anyone have any suggestions for services/streaming that are better value? I think I've reached my limit (financially and emotionally) with DTV.

We understand how you feel, beebsy25. When programmers adjust prices, DIRECTV strives to deliver the best quality content at reasonable rates to consumers. DirecTV has a annual price adjustment. This is to keep up with the rising costs of networks. If it weren't for the discount your bill would have been higher.
So remember a discount is not a price lock. It is not false advertising as you got exactly what was offered. Same as other companies. A discount doesn't mean your base costs will never change.

Surprised they gave you a discount in the first place.

I understand that the discount isn't a price lock and I understand that price increases will occur. And I said nothing about false advertising either But what amounts to a $3 discount is nothing on an almost $200 monthly bill, so you can lecture and extol the virtues of DTV to someone else.

Umm said nothing about it?
Seems you actually did say something.
Point was your post implied your bill couldn't go up because of a discount. It was clarified whether you got a discount or not, the price can change. So the discount still saved you some.
There was no virtue discussed. Only that want you wanted and perceived was different than the reality. They are not going to give you a huge discount. They are not there to give the service away but make money like any other business.

DIRECTV's goal is to bring customers the best programming at a fair and reasonable price. As costs for content like sports and local programming go up, unfortunately, so do DIRECTV’s monthly rates. I sent you a DM for further assistance. Bai, DIRECTV Community Specialist
