PRICE GOUGING
Really tired of the excessive pricing without notice / and without explanation. Had called customer service as to why the bill went from $167ish to $348 in one month - customer service rep was quite useless. She advised that since I was on autopay, there was nothing she could do & referenced a $30 credit given to me a few months back for same issues. It's simple gouging. Which doesn't make sense since the billing and payment is for the month ahead. There were no changes made to my service & billing has fluctuated greatly over the past year. I'm currently shopping for better deals offered - even though I've been a loyal Direct TV customer for over 10 years. Direct TV will be facing further class action suits from those of us who are sick and tired of being treated like (Edited per community guidelines) by customer service staff.

DTV only raises the base price once a year usually in Jan. but raised it in Oct. this year and emails and bill inserts are sent before then. So any increases are due to discounts ending or PPV/On Demand purchases. You have to check you bills to see what changed.

An increase from $167 to $348 is not normal and certainly would not be just the annual price adjustment. What are the itemized charges on that bill? What differences show from the last (new charges, any discounts dropped off, one time charges such as PPVs, etc.)?
If you can screenshot the bill, make sure to leave out any personal info. With some details we can help figure out what is going on and what may need disputing. In general the bill should be consistent outside of the annual price adjustment, so fluctuating often or having more than double hit on a bill is certainly not the way it should be.
As for your "suit", remember Terms of Service (ToS) we agreed to include an arbitration clause.
(as a note remember it is DirecTV, not Direct TV. Just something to be careful of with all the scammers out there)

You do not pay ahead, you billing cycle started the day you where installed on day 2 the bill is made and sent or payed if you are on auto pay, DTV charges at the beginning of the billing cycle not the end like most companies.

From one perspective you are paying ahead as the autopay date is day 2 of the cycle. So that is 'ahead' of the remaining 28 days. Subscription is different from usage based services that the bill is generated and paid after the service month ends so it can tally up exactly what you've used.
Regardless on how an individual views that, it doesn't help this situation much. We need to know exactly what is on the bill and compare it to the prior one to figure how it supposedly managed a jump more than double.
