Notice of Dispute

Hello people,

Today I ended my contract with Directv. The following is what I wrote to he company but I did not realize they did not have an email. Any help would be great.

I am writing to submit a dispute claim regarding a statement made by your company, DIRECTV, regarding the requirement of purchasing your services in order to acquire internet. I strongly believe that this statement was a misrepresentation and a falsification of the facts, as I have been paying for DIRECTV services since October 22, 2022, without any intention of obtaining the bundled internet services. On October 22, 2022, I contacted your customer service representative to inquire about the availability of internet services in my area. During the conversation, I was informed that in order to access internet services, I would be required to purchase DIRECTV as part of a bundled package. The representative specifically mentioned that it was mandatory to have DIRECTV in order to obtain internet access. Based on this information, I reluctantly decided to proceed with the bundled package, even though I had no intention of using the streaming application or other services associated with DIRECTV. I relied on the representation made by your company and have been paying for DIRECTV services since then. However, upon further investigation and consultation with other service providers, I have discovered that the statement made by your representative was entirely false. It is apparent that DIRECTV is not a requirement for accessing internet services, and I have been misled into believing otherwise. Therefore, I am requesting a full reimbursement for the period during which I have been paying for DIRECTV services under the false pretense that it was necessary to acquire internet. This reimbursement should include all charges incurred from October 22, 2022, until the date of resolution of this dispute. I trust that your company values its customers and upholds ethical business practices. It is crucial that you rectify this situation by providing a prompt resolution and taking appropriate action to prevent similar incidents in the future. I am open to discussing this matter further and finding an amicable solution. I expect a written response acknowledging the receipt of this dispute claim within 30 days from the date of this letter, since that is what your website states. Additionally, I request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and provide a resolution to avoid any further escalation. Please address all future correspondence regarding this dispute claim to the contact information provided above. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a satisfactory resolution.

Respectfully,
Jean

DTV has never needed internet to work nor have they ever provided internet service, they are not an ISP (Internet Service Provider).  Yes in order to bundle you need an ISP but DTV bundles with most ISPs.  They are independent services you can have one or the other or both.  This is a customer to customer forum with little contact with DTV and DTV doesn't do email support.

DirecTV is a pay TV provider by satellite. It is not an internet provider, nor does it require internet to work. You can connect your setup to internet for On Demand, but that is optional and does not mandate any specific internet company.

Over the years DirecTV has partnered with many internet providers for additional start-up deals for the consumer. It is expected that agents would be required to offer bundles on every call. However claiming this is all required for you is an example of a very bad agent.

Having DirecTV service installed and active, means you pay for it as long as you have. A bad representation from that agent regarding internet services does not wipe out months worth of bills. You still must pay for the service you did have.

This is a public forum, so your expectation of receipt and response within 30 days is misplaced as not official communication with DirecTV. If over the phone is not resolving or acknowledging to your satisfaction, your option at this point would be to file a BBB complaint. This results in the situation being sent to the corporate level who usually contact you within a few days. I would not expect to get credit for over half a year worth of service (Oct 2022 to now), but it would let your voice be heard and 'might' get something as courtesy.
