Mandatory fees

Besides the very varying costs of the Regional Sports Fee ($13.99 monthly in L. A. in 3/23) what else are they doing? Where are the class action lawsuits? I don’t have money to throw away - or to be stolen.

The fees are in the Terms of Service and the fine print of any offers. The RSN fee used to be in the package cost itself like other providers, but a few years ago they itemized it so everyone knows what it costs for where they live. If you have Choice or higher, you get your RSNs for where you live.

The only way to avoid the fee is to reduce your package to Family, Select, Entertainment, or if still available the Preferred Xtra package (which without the RSN fee and slightly cheaper than Xtra puts it similiar to total cost of Choice but with more channels).

The fee has been billed and disclosed for years. There is no money being stolen as much as you don't like the charge.

Offer details on the website for new customers: Price excludes Advanced Receiver Service Fee of $15/mo. (which is extra and applies to all packages) and Regional Sports Fee of up to $13.99/mo. (which is extra & applies to CHOICE and/or MÁS ULTRA and higher Pkgs.), applicable use tax expense surcharge on retail value of installation, custom installation charges, equipment upgrades/add-ons, and certain other add’l fees & chrgs.

And in the Terms of Service for all customers:

Regional Sports Fee

Up to $13.99

Fee applicable to programming packages that include regional sports networks.

Then cancel or lower you package to one that doesn't have them.  All TV providers that carry RSNs have to charge for them some just average it out and lump it in the monthly fee and let the no RSN/lower priced customers subsidize the larger priced customers.  DTV decided to charge their customers only for the RSN they are in.   Read the TOS DTV customers are limited to binding arbitration.

Hi there, Regional Sports Fees are used to pay for Regional Sports Networks in specific regions. The fee is packaged as a Regional Sports Fee, so only the customers with access to the Regional Sports Networks are responsible for the fee. The fee varies depending on your market and the Regional Sports Networks available in your market. To get more details about your inquiry, I'll send you a DM, so we can help you out. The RSN fee is public info. Aside from moving to a cheaper area (or one that doesn't have the fee), or reducing the package, how do you expect to "help out" the OP besides repeating everything that has already been said?

The only way I see a DM appropriate is if you can change the OP's package to Preferred Xtra (came out at the same time RSN Fee was itemized) which is a better fit for those that watch little to no sports.
