Letter received from DirecTV

Received a letter stating than an email was sent but rejected.  It's an email we haven't had for over 8 years.  All info on the site is correct, including our email.  Letter had our complete, correct address and DirecTV account number.  Is this a scam?

What did the letter ask you to do?

I received the same letter, dated May 28th, referring to an obsolete email address that I had cancelled 4 years ago, and at that time had updated my DirecTV account info with the new address.

Everything in the letter was correct.  It told me to go to www.directv.com/email or call 1-800-531-5000 to resolve the issue.  Having verified that the 800 number was valid, I called, and explained the situation.  I was told that they had my correct email address in their system, there was no reference to the old address anywhere.  She also said that they keep a record of all customer communications, including hard-copy snail mail letters, but there was no record of them sending me the letter in question!  She thought it might be a phishing scam, but I don't see how that could be possible.
