Drop Fox News

I'm writing to ask Directv to drop Fox News.  I would like it removed from my standard subscription.  I'm done with the (Edited per community guidelines)

1) The questioning of getting vaccinated when other countries have Covid beat and the flu infections are down 90% in the last calendar year

2) Tucker Carlson belonging to racist organizations in College and not being held accountable

3) Tucker Carlson bringing race 'purity' conversation into his nightly shows

4) Other countries are suing the Murdochs for their platform of disinformation

5) Pick literally any other subject and they would rather let people die than do the right thing.  It's becoming more and more akin to foreign (Edited per community guidelines).

It's disgusting, it's un-American and it's not politics.  Listen to the words they are saying. Remove this channel and keep a customer.

DTV can only remove a channel when their contract is up.

On the other hand, if people don't like CNN or MSNBC should they also ask Direct TV to cancel them? The best solution if you don't like Fox News is just don't watch it, problem solved.

DirecTV like other TV providers will provide a variety of news channels. There are no al-a-carte options as is how the entire industry is designed. Networks own multiple channels so are package to TV providers which in turn are required to be packaged to us.

You can setup a custom favorites list to hide any channels you receive that you don't watch.

The only way to remove the channel completely would be going to a package that doesn't have it in the first place. That would only be the Family package.

Family Package Channel Lineup

TV providers have no say in the content, opinions, etc. that is on the channels. They are just rebroadcasting exactly what is sent to them. If you have issue with content, you either don't watch it or take it up with Fox News.

News & info channels’ subscriber fees are normally small. MSNBC gets ~$0.33, CNN gets between $0.70-0.90 per month (and includes CNN and CNN Headline News). In contrast, Fox News charges near or over $2 a month.....so for those that say, "Don't watch it"....I don't...the point is that I don't want to give FOX $25 annually, for garbage.  Make ALL NEWS Channel an optional tier.

Your paying for a program package not individual channels.

If you don't want to contribute funds to Fox News by paying for a package they are in, then you have a couple options. Lower package all the way down to Family or go without pay TV altogether and just use free antenna TV (local channels).

There are channels in my package I will never watch and would love if my cost were reduced by having them removed. However I do understand that is not the way the TV industry works and so I work as best I can within the options available.

I've been within the telecommunications industry for 35 years, and AT&T, Comcast, etc. has to pay each channel (ESPN, TBS, etc.) monthly fees to rebroadcast their respective content, so you do pay for "individual channels" that are grouped (by ATT, Comcast, etc) into "program packages" or tiers, that the consumers pay for.  Those costs (what the news channels charge for carriage) are accurate.

We do not pay for individual channels. Instead we pay for a package of channels. Channels are not al-a-carte to us or the TV providers. Take Viacom for example, all the different Nick channels and TV Land are packaged together from them to DirecTV. Even ESPN you mention is owned by Disney so is packaged from them to DirecTV. And the same goes for the other TV providers.

Yes the network owner is paid for all the different channels they are providing to the TV providers. But we do not pay for them individual because of how everything is packaged. Paying individually would be al-a-carte which is not done.

Even though I agree with your assessment of them, Directv is not going to drop Fox News or any other channel because you don’t like their content. If you feel that strongly about them, target their advertisers. They won’t charge their ways as long as they keep selling ads.

fox news isn't news.  it's LIES.  dangerous, lethal intentional lies for ratings and money and destruction.  fox is responsible for the insurrection at our nation's capitol - trump could not instigate it without fox's continually headlining known false reporting that our election was stolen.  their treacherous lies have caused and exacerbated division of our country to where we are being threatened by civil war.  do not make us pay for this anti- 'news' channel. plus everything DEHPHX said here, two years ago (above).
