DIRECTV Premium Channel Promotions
Hi,
Can you please let me know if DIRECTV is still offering customers the option for the 6 month promotion for the premium channels (HBO / STARZ, CINEMAX, SHOWTIME) since parting ways with AT&T and being with TPG? I am now only receiving promotions for certain premium channels in 3 month increments at random times. At one point accounts managed by AT&T were eligible to have the Premium channels 6 months at a time. Please let me know if you can provide any information.

I am not aware of such a promotion, but you can speak to the retention department to see if they will offer it to you (don’t be surprised if they don’t as DIRECTV is bleeding customers and losing a lot of revenue as more cut the cord). You can do so by calling DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and saying ‘cancel’ to the robot. Once you get the retention agent, threaten to cancel if they don’t offer the promotion you suggest (or something along the lines of this). Let us know how it goes, good luck.

Thank you for letting me know. This promotion I am referring to was when DIRECTV was merged with AT&T. This was always offered by the Loyalty retention department in 6 month increments for the package I had. I wasn't sure if things changed once DIRECTV was a stand a lone company from AT&T.

I see. That promotion no longer exists. However, try calling into the retention department and see if they can offer something similar, perhaps those premiums free for 3 months or possibly 6?

Those promotions were never intended to be very repeatable. They are to give you a trial and if you like them you will keep them (perhaps only certain packs) at regular cost.
Being a business they cannot keep giving discounts/free specials forever. You can call and ask if there are any specials available for your account, just be prepared there may not be.
As promotions are subject to change, specific to the accounts and not publicly posted, nobody here will know what your account has available. You must call for that.

Thank you for letting me know. For this specific promotion this was when DIRECTV was still part of AT&T. I was more or less inquiring if anyone on the forum has these current promotions on their DIRECTV accounts as they were provided by the Loyalty team as an incentive to stay as a DIRECTV customer. I always had to call the Loyalty team to have the 6 month promotions offered for their premium channels. Due to DIRECTV now being under TPG I was wondering if their promotions have changed.

Promotions can change day to day as there are no set promotions always available. Bringing the new co-owner TPG into the mix doesn't change that.
Comes down to it doesn't matter what promotion anyone else may have because that is no guarantee your account may get it. There could be 50 people getting it but your account might not have it available. This is just one of those times where you need to call as the relevant information will be account specific.
