Daily Calls from 855-622-7808

Hello - I receive daily call from the number above from someone stating to be from DirecTV.  I am a DirecTV customer so I stayed on the line the first time and listened to their pitch.  in short, they offered to give me two premium channels (to thank me for my continued loyalty) at no cost to me.  I repeatedly asked if their would EVER be a charge after a free trial and they so there would not.

Turns out it was a scam.  While I did get the additional services right away, they did indeed charge me immediately for the two premium services.  this is especially concerning as they have some obvious affiliation if they were able to update my account.

I was able to have the channels canceled and the charges removed but now this number calls daily (I have since blocked it) with the same pitch, even though I have asked...and was assured that I would be removed from their call list.

My question is, how is this number affiliated to DirecTV?  Is it a service you use to get additional business?  if so, I would seriously consider severing your relationship as they are scamming your customers into believing that they are providing your services for free, which is obviously not the case.

That number is not affiliated with DIRECTV at all, they are a bunch of crooks overseas who try to impersonate companies such as DIRECTV, Amazon, Microsoft, etc in the hopes of gaining credit card information and gift cards it doesn't seem like the scammer got that info from you from your description, so that's a good thing.

As a note, this is a public forum and we are also customers like you so we don't work for DIRECTV.

This is a pure scam, they spoof caller id to show it is DTV and pretend to be DTV if you call that number and they had enough info to convince DTV when they called them to add the channels. They do this to find out you are a real person so they can sell your info or use it themselves.

Likely it was a crook pretending to be representing DirecTV. They get as much info as they can, have their partner contact DirecTV and add services to make it seem legit.

As for real outbound offers, whether discounted or free (or 2for1) trial of premium channels they are supposed to explain better. You get charge for full amount showing from the day they are added to the end of the current month on your next bill along with the full charge for that bill as normal. There is a credit to offset the cost for 1 month (usually for 3 bills as that is the common offer). At the end of the special if you remove the additional channels, then you get a credit for that day to the end of the service month. This way the special all equals out.

Whether a scammer, or bad positioning of outbound offer, is why I only discuss options when I've called the official number. Now that you get calls daily, I lean towards that was a scammer as a valid outbound is one and done.
