customer service
I can't get support. I'll start a chat, they verified my account then they quit! This is through direct message, I can't ever find a link to chat. How do I reach a live Agent?

Agents telling to callback when discounts expire are bad agents. None of them can guarantee any will be available at that time. Sets a bad expectation as they cannot survivie always giving discounts, hence why they have been pulled back.
Assuming that letter was legitmate, saying both too much in discounts and you were being automatically canceled, that suggest yours was a problem account that had an excessive amount of discounts. They have to stay profitable of course.
I would call DirecTV and make absolutely sure your account is set to be canceled just so you don't get any surprises later.
But thank you for explaining what the situation was. Even if you got through to chat, I doubt they could have helped as this is a very unique situaiton.

Chat often has misleading/poor agents, unfortunately. For official support, you need to call DIRECTV ( number in my greeting below). It’s best to tell the robot the reason for your call so you aren’t routed through several departments for one simple request.

Because of questionable info provided, and transcripts do not save on your account (deleted as soon as chat end), I personally avoid that option. Would suggest calling official support instead.
Alternatively, you could post your situation or questions in the forum and other expereinced users can try and help or perhaps provide some guidance.

They finally contacted me. They made a offer I couldn't refuse. They are canceling my service ❤️. They are doing me a favor. Xfinity has Customer service and very good rates.

Ok?
You couldn't get support and then when you did they made you an "offer you couldn't refuse" which normally means you got a good deal of some kind, but say your service is being canceled.
There is a LOT of missing information as to what was going on. Remember we were not there with you on those calls. So all we can go by is what you share. But if you got what you needed (i guess?) then great.

They gave me a discount recently. Then yesterday I received a letter saying I received too many discounts. They were given to me last year when I called and asked. They said when the discount expires, call back. I did for a couple of months as they said do. Then I get the letter saying they were canceling me on 5/19. I switched to Xfinity today, tv, internet and home phone. Mobile phone switch coming soon. I know Xfinity has draw backs too. But I don't like streaming.

Very strange as DTV has cut back on discounts and usually you have to call DTV to cancel service and unless 5/19 is the end of your billing cycle, DTV doesn't give dates out.
