Be aware of overpayment scams by Direct TV

It is difficult to understand how Direct TV loyalty department that exists to serve and keep the customer experience positive is not willing to take necessary steps to resolve a billing issue that was caused by a mistake on the Direct TV side.   For some reason, a permanent discount on the account was removed and my direct pay credit card was charged an extra $15 since last August.   I have been trying to resolve this issue since January (when I noticed the charge during end of the year accounting review) and have spent several hours and multiple calls with your team to see how they can make this right and refund the extra charge.   In my last call with the royalty department yesterday, I was told that they can only credit for 3 months and will add the credit back which will take 2-3 billing cycles to kick in.  This is unacceptable!  The extra unauthorized charge to my account must be returned in full in one lump sum payment.    Regardless of how the mistake happened, the fact that Direct TV is not willing to take responsibility and steps to refund the overpayment is nothing short of unethical and scamming customers.

What "permanent" discount were you expecting?

How did it list on the previous bills when it was applying?

How long had you been receiving the discount?

Did you make any changes around the time the discount stopped?

Loss in August, but not noticed until January doesn't work well in your favor. DirecTV has a 60 day billing dispute policy. Yes errors should be resolved, but they do expect to be notified about any problems within a reasonable time.
