I would check the service dates on the bill. Like other companies they no longer prorate your bill, so for example if your cycle is 10/26 thru 11/25 you pay for the entire cycle.
Also check for any one-time charges to close out the account such as early cancellation fee (ECF), non-return fee (NRF), or unbilled PPVs found on returned access cards.
However, if that bill is for regular service starting the cycle after you canceled, then that suggests the account wasn't closed and you would have to call DirecTV to resolve.
