Account Hacked

My DTV account was hacked overnight. The account disconnected my satellite service, saying I owe $800. That is false; I pay faithfully every month. I want to speak to a supervisor that can correct this problem ASAP. I’ve been a DTV customer for nearly 20 years and have never experienced an issue like this. If it isn’t resolved I will cancel service and contact my state’s senator. I will call customer service as soon as it opens.

This is a public forum of other customers so we cannot give you direct assistance with your account. We can, however, direct you to call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and say 'cancel' to the robot to be sent to the retention department where an agent from retention can help you straighten things out with your account.

As a reminder, I suggest you change all passwords for websites that had the same password you were previously using to log into DIRECTV. Additionally, it doesn't hurt to check for viruses on your devices as there may be Spyware on your PC that allowed someone to gain your DIRECTV credentials in the first place (although there are several different ways hackers gain account info).

If account was closed, it cancels at the end of the service month, not overnight (unless that was the last day of the cycle). Even if there was a service agreement resulting in an ECF, that wouldn't cause the bill to be $800. This all sounds very odd.

Certainly call DirecTV to discuss the bill and account status. Though restoring an account shouldn't need a supervisor. Did that $800 show when you logged into your account online or was that mentioned somewhere else? What happens when you try to watch TV?

Whether a system issue, agent error, or someone called in pretending to be you, I don't see how your state's senator has anything to do with your entertainment service.
