Sound Out of Sync with Video
I am having frequent problems with the sound being out of sync with the video on both of my DirecTV streaming devices. The problem mostly involves playback of DVRed shows, but has happened very intermittently when watching live, and it happens frequently on the one app (WeatherNation) that I have installed. Both devices (one purchased new, and one is a refurb) are using wired ethernet connections. When the sync gets bad, sometimes rewinding a few seconds then hitting Play resolves the problem. Sometimes it goes back into sync after a commercial break. I have also rebooted the device when the "rewind trick" does not work. I subscribed to DirecTV Streaming in late December 2022.
Before subscribing to DirecTV Streaming, I tried Sling (which has this same and several other problems. I also tried YouTube Live TV, then switched to DirecTV Streaming solely for additioanal channel availability. I used those two services with Fire TV devices. Is this sound being out of sync a common problem with all streaming services?
I am not sure what internet service I have. I live in a "Multiple Dwelling Unit" which provides internet service free to all tenants (total 57 apartments). Switching back to cable is not an option. The MDU also provides free "cable TV", but there are few channels and it is a third-party contract, and no upgrades are available.
Aside from frequently rewinding a few seconds or rebooting the device, Is there a better solution or a permanent fix?
Thank you!

Even when streaming on my laptop from any browser the audio and video get out of sync regularly. And as for new cables and TVs, etc... I have three different TVs, phone, laptops, 3 different versions of ROKU and it happens on ALL of these devices. The answer is NOT TO SWITCH CHANNELS TO SYNC --- that's not what I'm paying for, quite frankly.

I've had the same issue, I went to the settings on the direct tv streaming device and went to audio and switched the audio to Stereo and now it is in sync.. For some reason if the audio is on surround then it will be out of sync..

I have several Directv Stream devices. Audio out of sync is a problem on multiple devices, and I have to reset the device to fix it. I'm going to try jalexander7878's recommendation and see if that fixes it. My devices are set to Surround Sound, but I'm only using the TV speakers. See how it goes.

I have the same issue. One streaming device and audio constantly goes out of sync. If I use apps through my TV, it's fine. Same apps through the streaming box there is a huge delay. I have used wifi and ethernet cable, I have done a major reset, a factory reset, red button restart, I have changed HDMI cables and ports, I have changed stereo/surround sound. I have changed Internet providers. It's absolutely ridiculous to always have this problem and no solution!

Switching audio from surround to stereo did not fix the issue.

Why does this Audio and video syncing getting worse on DirectTv Stream. An it’s been only this app and I have done all the things they say to I added a Roku box I took the Roku Box off just used my regular streaming Tv and is still doing it. An it’s on all our devices that have Direct Tv and it’s ridiculous. Especially when you just raised our rates!!!’

Do other streaming services (Hulu+ Live TV, FuboTV, etc.) have this same audio sync problem? I am at the point that I am considering switching if it will fix the sync problem. DirecTV Streaming has gotten almost as bad as Sling!

It was not doing it Parmount Plus , Tubi or YouTube. It’s ridiculous because I can watch a channel for 30 mins and then I will switch to another channel and then there it is. An it’s on all of my devices… An I have done everything they say on here on the support site and it’s not made a difference. What is frustrating is they just raised our rates we are almost paying as much as we was when we had their dish service.

Your link to https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093281 is worthless. Directv stream device audio sync has been an issue on all my devices. Directv Steam has no desire to fix the issue. Throw out this worthless link like it is a solution. I switched from Directv Satellite to Stream. So disgusted with Stream Device so slow and audio sync issues I will likely switch to YouTubeTV soon. Customer service with this service sucks. All through Philippines and inability to speak English makes it impossible to resolve any issues.

I haven’t had any issues with audio sync in about 6 weeks. Stream box still slow, but I
like the functionality of it over other streaming devices: They did a firmware update recently. Perhaps that resolved the sync issue.

My problems got worse with the new software. Now I am having frequent problems with freezing aka lock-ups. The only way to fix that is to power off and back on. The audio going out of sync is still a major problem. I do not understand why DirecTV is not reading these posts and fixing the problems. I hope there is a way for future potential customers to see this and avoid this service. The only reason why I have not switched to Hulu is the massive amount of shows that I have on the cloud DVR.
DirecTV needs to fix their hardware or replace them. And yes, this device is, by the calendar, out of warranty. But I first reported the problem here while it was in warranty, so I consider the company to still be liable for the product.

@DIRECTVhelp: Please go back and read this entire post! I have troubleshooted this problem to the inth degree!!! You guys need to quit beating around the bush and fix your software. You seem to have found plenty of techs and time to write changes to menus and the home screen and add more advertising, but you can't fix anything. I keep getting told to troubleshoot the same stuff over and over again!!! Do I need to get a lawyer involved, or copy this entire post and email it to every blogger that writes about the tech industry???? PLEASE QUIT STALLING AND FIX IT!!!
