Remote wont connect to box

We appreciate you letting us know about this disruption with the remote control link. Could you verify if you followed these steps to pair it:

• Press and hold the Rewind (<<) and Fast Forward (>>) buttons simultaneously.
• Blue LEDs on both sides of the remote begin to scan back and forth.
• Once successfully paired the LEDs blink blue twice.
• During initial set up, or
• By adding a remote control through options in the DIRECTV STREAM Device.
  
  • Go to - Setting > System > Remote & Device > Add a new Remote.

yes  i have done that and it doesnt work.   the buttons they are asking to push are the mute and vol+ on the streaming box

you cant look into it for me?

It's the ff and rewind button together--same time for 2-3 seconds. Can you share a picture of your remote and box?

Also--if you have an old Dtv Satellite remote you can use it to navigate the Dtv Stream box menus and get to the remote setup

I bought a reconditioned Directv Stream box.  I had to reset it which when done reverts back to the original software.  The box asks you to connect a remote.  The instructions pertain to the first generation remote.  I do not have one of those.  When i try to connect utilizing the buttons shown it does not work.  When i try using ff and REW it does not work.  There has to be a way to connect the second generation remote.  That is what i am looking for help on.  I have old directv satellite remotes and tried them and they dont work either.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried putting in new batteries?

That's odd..I have an old Dtv satellite remote and they work with the box without having to pair them. When the software gets to that sreen---is there any way you can exit out of it? Try hitting the exit button on the Dtv Satellite remote. There has to be a way of skipping that remote pair/setup so you can get the new software.

Can you tell me the model number of your streaming box? Also, just curious--when you received the box, why did you do a hard reset?

i did the reset that brings it back to the original software.  5 hard resets in a row.  Now it brings me to that screen and i cant seem to link the remote to the box.  I had done it last year as i had bought a couple units off ebay and figured out how to program the remote.  I cant remember how i did it.

But when you received the box---why did you do the hard reset in the first place? Box should have setup fine on it's own out of the box. Or did it come with old software? 

Did you try the Dtv Satellite remote --hit exit out of that remote pairing screen?

This current box you are having issues with--did you get it from Ebay or Directv?

it would not update when i got it.  It said it needed to be updated and would not work, similar to boxes i had in the past purchased from ebay.  I read about resetting the box leaving it connected to ethernet to go back to original software, which it did.  Now i cant connect the 2nd generation remote.  Every combination i try does not work.  So i cant control the box now without a remote.  I have done it in the past, just cant remember how i did it.

That is an older model. The newer one is the DirecTV Stream model C71KW-400.

 If you bought the box from Directv--contact them and have them replace it. 

i didnt.  I got them through ebay.  I have gotten these boxes to link to the remote in the past.  I just cant remember how i did it.  Thanks for the help on this.

Ebay boxes. That's the issue. Return the box to the Ebay seller  and get one from Dtv Stream for 49.99 with 1yr warranty. This ebay issue has been known for quite some time so not sure why anyone would chance getting one from a seller on there.
