No sound on apps thru Direct Tv Stream

When I go to my apps thru Direct TV Streaming there is no sound coming thru.  This is on all other apps (panorama, Hulu, etc.)

I did red button reset.  It corrected the problem,  but had to reload all my apps

Did you restart the box or try a red button reset?

I had this same issue yesterday, so I used the red, reset button per the above, and now my box/remote won't complete restart. I get as far as on-screen instructions telling me to hit the OK button on my remote, but it doesn't respond. And the Network button on my box is blinking red.

The remote is working (it turns the box off and on) but I can't get it to respond when trying to complete the reset process.

Addition to the above:

My internet is working fine - but I cannot plug the box into my modem because they are in different rooms - and I can't connect to the internet by using the remote/settings because I'm stuck on the screen telling me to press OK (after nothing happens when I click OK, it moves onto telling me to hold the forward and back arrow buttons for 3 seconds - but never responds).

How far apart are the rooms? U can get a really long ethernet cable or just move the tv into that room for the setup. Sounds like the box is having an issue connecting to wifi. You can also restart the modem then restart the Dtv stream box again see if that fixes it. If not, you need to hook the box up with an ethernet cable for setup. Holding down the forward and back buttons pairs the remote.

Thanks!  I tried to delete my comment after I finally had luck first connecting an ethernet cable, and then changing the remote batteries even though they seemed to be working fine.  Took a lot of effort, and remembering of passwords ;-) but I'm hooked back up, and once again have sound on my apps.

Thanks so much!

Same issue; no audio when app streaming unless we power cycle the box. (Our unit has to be restarted everyday to get audio on streaming channels.)
DirecTV stream always has audio.
We replaced the streaming unit and it did not solve the problem. Now the new unit tiles on video, also. We have had it for only one week.
Went back to ROKU and everything works correctly.

Is anyone else losing streaming audio overnight?

Yes.. same issue with us.  My son watches youtube daily and every day we have to reset the box for the audio to work on youtube.  This just recently started, I don't understand what happened bc we've had directv stream for about 4 months now and it wasn't happening before.   Mind you we have a new box bc we had issues when we first got the box with sound and picture not being synced (people's mouths not matching what was being said, delayed sync) so we were sent a new box.  I tried to uninstall youtube & reinstall but couldn't figure out how to uninstall it.. it doesn't seem to give that option to uninstsall?   And yes, our Directv stream has audio too but apps don't.  Super annoying 😒

@Law12 Go into settings....system....apps/storage. Go the to youtube app and "uninstall updates" That will reset the box to the factory version of the app. Then go to google play store on the box and turn off auto updates. I don't have any glitches with youtube since I did that. You can do that with any of the pre-installed apps as well.

@Ludwick577  yes, i did do the "uninstall updates" yesterday actually since i didn't see an option to uninstall the youtube app itself but I didn't turn off updates on Google play as you suggested so I will do that today (I'm not home right now).  My son watched youtube this morning before school & audio was working so I'm hoping it continues!  Dealing with a whining kid  every day bc youtube is not working is not fun lol.   Thank you for your recommendation 😊

@Law12 Yah that way if you turn off auto updates then the regular full version youtube won't re-install/update. You will have to go into google play store every onece in a while and manually update the apps you want to update. It will tell you which ones have updates---and you can choose which ones u want to update. Just make sure youtube didn't update on it's own --u might have to uninstall updates again.

Fine for YouTube but I am also having intermittent sound loss issues. Sometimes on Hulu, sometimes on Paramount+. Resetting box usually fixes this but why is this happening so frequently to so many? Clearly a streaming box issue as there are no such issues if I stream directly through TV.

@KSM99   A few people on a message board saying they are having intermittent sound issues is not "so many"  Vast majority of people with Dtv Stream boxes are not seeing this issue.....including me. I've had a Dtv Stream box for almost 2 yrs and have never had an issue with audio.

I have been using directv stream box for a few months without any issue. Now I am having the same problem the last 2 weeks or so, losing sound in all apps, but not directv stream itself. Only fix I have found is to restart the box.
