Hello! We know having the receivers up to date it's really important, and we'd love to help. Please follow the next steps to check for updates:
1. Press the Home button on your DIRECTV STREAM remote. 2. Select the gear icon onscreen to open your DIRECTV STREAM settings. 3. Choose System, then General. 4. Select Check for Updates.

Once again - there is no excuse for DTV to not figure out some mechanism to allow any C71KW to update. Whether that is to get AT&T to provide a DNS redirect for the old server name to the current one, some mechanism to allow a directly connected Ethernet (maybe at an AT&T store) to provide the update, or something else (perhaps an update via the USB, which I'd assume allowed it at least at one point) doesn't matter - it's unacceptable that they would allow the devices to be bricked this way.
