Sure. What does this have to do with DIRECTV STREAM though? Are you using your hotspot for a streaming device or a phone/tablet?

I have a related question:
We have iPhones and we often will use the HotSpot feature on the phone via the USB cable to give us Internet on the laptop.
I noticed the DirecTV Streaming box has a USB port. Do you think we can drive the Streaming box from the iPhone via the USB port?

Perhaps. I honestly haven’t tried it before but I’d love to know.

A couple of years ago some people experimented a bit with the USB port, and it appeared pretty limited in functionality. There obviously could be some things that were missed, but there didn't appear to be any way to access files or other content via the USB. I don't recall anyone reporting that they tried a network connection over USB. You could attach a keyboard to enter input to some apps, but (as I remember) seemingly not the DTVS app itself. Of course that was a while ago - DTV could have added things to the USB support in the firmware since then.

AFAIK, the USB port can't provide network connectivity. About all it's good for is charging a USB device.
