restart streaming device

When I try to access certain apps on the direct stream, they won't display.  It just stays in "start-up" mode on the app chosen.  You can pick the show you want to watch, but it just spins.  It only happens on some Direct Stream apps.  I've unplugged the router and turned on the TV again, no luck. I followed the online help telling me to restart the device, but I never get to the instructions.  It points me to other things.

Hello. Restoring your receiver to factory settings may help with the apps that are not working. 
Customized preferences, playlists, and favorites are lost with this method, and you can use the following steps: 
1. Press and hold the blue DIRECTV power button on the front of your receiver.
2. Release after 20 seconds.
