price increase again

I have been an AT&T customer since the early 2000s. We have ALL our services with AT&T: TV, internet, land line, 3 mobile phone lines (and phones purchased from AT&T). In September I spoke with a customer loyalty/customer retention representative because my UVerse service was increasing again.  I was persuaded to change to Direct TV Stream to lower my bill. I was told it would be $49.99 for two months and would increase to $69.99. So then right after the new year there is another price increase to Direct TV Stream! My landline and internet also increased in the past year.

I find it ludicrous that I went through the trouble of changing over from UVerse, only for the reason to be mooted so quickly. I'm constantly told that if no promotions exist, there is no other outlet. From a customer loyalty perspective, I find this unfathomable. My costs keep going up, and the only options seem to be decreasing the services.

Here's what I'm asking:

1) I'd like to speak with someone who DOES have the ability to override system limitations and can help me.

2) I'd like customer loyalty representatives to have more decision making ability in general.

3) I'd appreciate it if prices were not increasing so often!

I've been a customer for nearly two decades and have committed a tremendous amount of business to AT&T. There are plenty of companies that ask for my business. I would like to think that I am valued by AT&T.

I already took the route of downgrading on Uverse. Then I changed to DTV stream. Prices went up less than six months. So, same lesser service, higher cost. Same goes for my landline (which I only retain for emergency purposes) and my internet service. I stated this clearly already. Your reply gives the impression you aren’t listening.

1. Those who make the decision on those limitations and what they allow don't speak to any of us customers.

2. Everybody would. But they can only work within the options provided. They don't run the company so cannot decide to throw money away left and right.

3. None of us like price increases. Unfortunatley networks keep doing that to the TV providers which in turn must adjust our bills to keep up. That is why there is a annual price adjustment in Janurary, which is seen on either the Jan or Feb bill depending on your cycle dates. This year is unique as it seems they had to do a realignment on costs. Hopefully this is just a one-off.

DirecTV has spun off from AT&T to their own entity once again. Though AT&T remains a part, they have turned over management to the new co-owner. In any case, your time with AT&T does not mean anything to DirecTV or DIRECTV STREAM. That 'loyalty' or tenure only matters to the specific service. So U-Verse, internet, or phone doesn't transfer to DIRECTV STREAM or vice versa.

If you don't like the price, you either reduce service, go elsewhere, or go without. That is the reality of the service. They are not going to change their entire company's billing model and options because you individually have been with AT&T since 2000 (way before they joined up with DirecTV).

In agreement with JPhillips3 as I have a similar issue:  received an email stating: Ultimate price is increasing on your next bill cycle effective on or after May 7, 2023. See all 2023 pricing details here. When I clicked on the place to see all 2023 pricing details and reached that page it shows: new pricing for DIRECTV STREAM takes effect January 22, 2023. You’ll see the new pricing in your next bill cycle on or after January 22, 2023.  so, on this page it shows the monthly price increases above - so has it already increased beginning January of 2023 and it will now increase again with my May bill? Which is it? You are an infuriating company, and you have monopoly power over customers which you have no problem using that power. My only other choice is a dish which I cannot have because of my community with an HOA and despite the fact that legally they have to permit a dish, it will ruin my roof or my siding and then I am responsible for those. My location is not conducive to installing a dish on the ground. You are certainly taking advantage of senior citizens such as me on a fixed income with the only choice of entertainment is watching TV.

There are no "you" located here. This is only a public community forum. Suggest you voice your concern to a support rep at Twitter or Facebook.

I realize that it is a community forum. I have voiced my concerns directly to the reps at Direct TV.  I accidently copied and pasted what I sent to them and hit send before I had a chance to remove to the "you" statements.

As explained above, January is when the annual price adjustment goes through. This year there is an additional update for DIRECTV STREAM that goes through April 22 (so expected to be seen on the May bill for most).

So this year it is both. My expectation is this would be a very rare one-off, as none of us customers would handle it if price adjustment going through multiple times a year became the norm.

...have monopoly power over customers which you have no problem using that power.

DirecTV is not a monopoly and neither is DIRECTV STREAM. There are other TV providers, including satellite TV (Dish Network).

Now HOAs on the other hand normally do make it difficult to have what you have the right to choose from. All so they can claim to keep property values high when they just want residents to follow their orders on how to live like sheep. Per Federal regulation (OTARD) you may have a dish in a location that is under your personal control (i.e. patio, balcony, etc.). If concern is about being responsible for repair upon moving out, you discuss with a tech before having the work done to avoid or at least minimize later work.

Pay TV is a luxury, not a right so there is no taking advantage of senior citizens. You choose the service and level that is comfortable for your budget. If DirecTV is no longer a good fit, then there are other TV providers including traditional TV that is free over-the-air by antenna.

Oh, geez, I shouldn't have posted anything on this community forum. I'll stop posting anything and just read if something is interesting to me. Thank you all.

There is nothing wrong with posting on the forum. But if you choose to post, expect that you will usually get a response if not more. And posts will be from people with their own knowledge, experience, perspective, and opinion. So do not expect a forum to just be a buch of "yes men" only here to echo your exact point of view.

But I do suggest avoiding copy/pasting something you sent to someone else. Otherwise it feels like one of those worthless chain letters (send to X number of people, etc.). Posting a chat, social media, letter, etc. that you sent DriecTV doesn't give it more leverage to accomplish what you want. And that is a suggestion I would give anybody.
