How to block purchases

I don't want my children to be able to buy or rent movies. How do I block purchases?

@Shossack Please disregard what Directv Help said to you that is how you do it for Directv Sat. Service.  On Directv Stream, there is no way at this time to block purchases.  It would be nice if we could as it is very easy to accidentally add services and buy movies.  The only way to cut down on this that I have found is if you go into the guide and make a favorites list then you are less likely to accidentally add something through your guide as those channels will be hidden.  Hope this helps!

Hi Shossack, we want you to have control of those purchases. To do so, here are some steps to block or limit the purchases:

- Press Menu > Parental > Fav's > Setup > Parental Controls > Edit Settings > Spending.

If you have controls locked, you are prompted to enter your password.

- Enter the maximum purchase amount

- Press Select > Done.

- Enter and confirm the password.

If controls were already locked, do not re-enter the password.

For further assistance with the parental control option, check the link below: https://www.directv.com/support/satellite?video=5000668 DIRECTV is with you every step of the way. Michael, DIRECTV Community Specialist

I don’t know if @DIRECTVhelp reps don't bother looking at which service is being referenced by a user post, don’t realize satellite and Stream are 2 different things, or  don’t know or care that Stream even exists.  But the number of times they respond to a Stream question with a satellite specific answer is astounding.

This is a BIG issue for me, and a reason why landlords etc don't use Directv streaming. I guess it's all because of AT&T's HIGHLY insecure system, which is STILL part of DirecTV. My wife, who has cognitive issues, just added a $19.99 sports package. I had to call to get it canceled. The rep said it takes 2 steps. Yeah, but if the person with the remote doesn't understand what he or she has done, and the second step is to click "OK" then BINGO! I am SO unhappy with DirecTV. I WISH I could find a sensibly-priced alternative. I suppose a dish is an option (THAT service HAS all the interlocks) but I don't want to go that route.

It's convenient to not add the block purchase option for Direct TV. Great way to make money on people.
