DirecTV Stream Account locked???

I have been a DirecTV stream subscriber since December 1, 2022. Service has worked great. I have one Osprey box but also watch on three other TV’s using Roku, Apple TV’ and an Amazon Firestick. We also watch on our iPhones and iPad. 


On Monday May 1st I received a e-mail that our account was locked and to call to get it unlocked. I called in and reset the password on the web site but the web site went into a redirect loop and immediately locked me out again. Tried on both safari and Firefox. 

I called in a second time reset the password again with the help of an agent and all was well. 

I set up all devices again with the new password and they all worked. 

Tonight my wife tried to watch on her iPhone and it required a password again. I made sure everything was typed correctly but it keeps giving error code 202. I checked all my other devices and they are all signed out again and the new password will not work. 


The osprey box continues to work and has never been signed out. 

Very frustrating! I don’t understand why the account was locked and why devices get locked out. My promotion of $10.00 off a month when  I signed up expired May 1st. I don’t know if this is part of the problem or not. 


If someone from Direct TV can help with this issue please reach out. Otherwise I will be on the phone with them again in the morning.

DirecTV did get back with me today. I still don't understand why my account was locked, but all is working well now so this thread can be closed.

I don't believe it was a scam. I called DirecTV directly using the 800-531 5000 number and then reached out on this forum. The forum help seems to have the issue fixed. Not sure but I think there may have been several issues going on here.

First the DirecTV web site seems to be having issues. When ever I tried to sign in it was throwing me into a redirect loop.  I had to go to AT&T.com to reset the password.

After I successfully changed my password I think some of my devices that were still signing in on with the old password and were causing the system to see too many wrong passwords and again disabling my account.

I was using a punctuation mark in my password. I think, but am not sure, that their system didn't like that. 

After resetting my password without punctuation and signing out any devices that were still connecting or trying to connect with the old password it seems that all is well now.

I still don't know why I got the original e-mail locking my account. May 1st was my 6th month anniversary with DirecTV stream.

Do they force you to reset your password every 6 months?
