Condo and Direct TV stream
I'm in charged of communications in my condo of 72 units ,
we are moving towards direct TV streaming , we love the quality and programing,
i understand we can share streaming accounts to reduce cost,
How many Direct TV stream accounts will we need for 72 unit,

That will just depend on how many TVs each person would want and how many people share wifi and how many people would be willing to share account information. Per account, you can stream 20 Devices (TVs/Firesticks/Rokus/Apple TVs/Smart TVs/Computers/Tablets/Phones) off of your home wifi network you get 3 away from-home wifi streams 2 of which can be TVs the third stream is strictly for tablet/computer/phone. And you would need streaming devices for each tv unless it was a smart tv that you can download the Directv app on it. Yes, you can share but when sharing you are giving other people access to your account and your account information so sharing should only be done with people whom you really trust as there is no way to deny access once it is given.

The 20 devices per account depends on all those devices being on the same (sub)net - that is, sharing the same ISP connection (public IP address). If the condo requires each unit to have its own internet, then the sharing possibilities would be very limited. (I think this sort of sharing would also violate the Terms of Service, but few worry about that.)
I did see a comment here in the forums that DirecTV is now offering support for MDU (multiple dwelling unit) complexes, which I assume the condo counts as, and which I would think must have a discount relative to a bunch of separate subscriptions (otherwise, why have it). You might want to contact DirecTV to ask about this.

How would you handle a la carte add ons (HBO etc) in this case? This is a new business line for DTV and my community was one of the first, each home has a separate account. For now there are restrictions on what services we can receive compared to regular subscribers. We cannot purchase sports pack or peacock (at the discount price) for example.

If they are treating each home as a separate account under some master plan for the community, with the accounts not having the same add-on options as “normal” accounts, then I have no clue as to how a user should get those. Are the accounts charged to the separate users or to the HOA? If the latter, then I can see why DTV isn’t allowing the add-ons - the system probably doesn’t allow for differentiated bills on a MDU plan.
I’d assume users could get (most of) the add-ons entirely separately from DTV (for example ordering MAX directly from WarnerDiscovery and using the MAX app explicitly) but that probably would lose the linear HBO channels and maybe the app’s integration into the program guide. Obviously that doesn’t work for DTV-specific add-ons like the Sports Pack. And even for the ones it does, as you note that might lose a discounted price.
Have you asked the DTV sales group who provided the MDU plan if there is any mechanism to deal with this issue?

MDU does exist for Stream. i have it.
The basic service is paid for through our HOA fees.
We have our own account numbers and can add certain add ons through the profile page. We are billed separately for them. HBO,Showtime, Starz, Movies Extra for example.
For some reason they cannot activate Sports Pack for my account. They cannot tell me why. They also refuse to investigate. I have filed a complaint with the BBB over their "service"
The real issue is they are taking over the Uverse community business with Stream but have no idea how it works.

When you say “They cannot tell me why.” - who is the “they”? If it is “normal” Stream support - contacted through phone at the posted number(s) or by chat - I could understand their being unable to help, as I believe group/commercial sales (for satellite) have always been handled separately and I’d think this would be also. The regular reps likely aren’t aware it even exists. (It is also the case that the first-level reps are often not the sharpest and generally can only help with issues in their script.) If this is the case, I’d suggest you get in touch with the group sales people who are responsible for the account to try to get info.
If you were dealing with the group sales organization and they were unable or unwilling to help, that is a more serious situation. At that point, I’d suggest contacting the “Loyalty” department (or whatever they are called these days), but filing a BBB complaint generally accomplishes the same thing - they will probably contact you.

rruben: I do not have a number for MDU sales, only for MDU support, not sure if they could help you without an account.
Jrandomuser: Support has been my only outlet for my issue. I cannot contact group sales...only the property managers can, they put in a complaint for me, but are unwilling to go back and forth and will not let my contact sales directly. Hence the reason for filing a complaint.
Sports Pack or the content available in it are available (as per the marketing material) for all residential customers in the US on Satellite, Internet or Stream. It is also available in bars, restaurants and airplanes and was available to me on Uverse in the HD tier before we had Stream. I guess my home isn't any of the above!
