Wireless Passkey

I have a dual-band (2.4G and 5G) wireless router with 2 networks setup - one for the family devices and one for guests.

The family WiFi passkey starts with a lower-case letter, which the HR44-700 claims is an "invalid character", and it makes no difference which letter I select on the DVR setup.  However, it will connect to the guest network, which starts with a capital letter.

Why should the first letter HAVE to be capitalized?  I can change it, yet none of the other 7 devices in the house has a problem connecting, so why should that be different?

That's odd. I've never came across this issue when connecting Genie Receivers to the Internet over the years. Are you able to attach a picture showing the Genie receiver forcing you to enter a capital letter? The first thing I'd recommend you do is a red button reset (behind the door that says 'PUSH').

wifi passkeys should be case-insensitive.. what happens if you enter that password in all caps?

Are you using wep, wpa, wpa/tkip, wpa/aes?

Perhaps it's the encryption mode you are using.

The above is the error message.

My router has WPA3-PSK, and the guest network is WPA2.  Just for the sake of troubleshooting, I'll set the guest network to WPA3, when I get a moment.

I figured I would change the guest network now, and the option is WPA2+WPA3.

Hi @AddisonGeek. We're sorry for the receiver not recognizing your Wi-Fi password. You may have to check if your HR44-700 receiver is the model that has a "WPS" text or icon. This means that connecting wirelessly using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) doesn't require a password. Otherwise, try manually rebooting your receiver by briefly pressing the red or blue reset button before putting the password again.
