Which transponder do i set my DTV receiver to when aiming my dish
Hello-
I have a DTV slimline non swm dish and H24/700 receiver. My best current signal readings are ...
Sat101 98% on transp 1
Sat 99ca77-85% on transp 9
Sat 99cb92% on transp 1
Sat 99s96% on transp 15
Sat103s89% on transp 15
Sat103ca82% on transp 1
Sat103cb89% on transp 1
Which transponders do i set my receiver at when aiming or dithering my dish and which satellites are critical to aim for?
Seems that we lose signal when a storm is approaching and didnt know if i could improve signal somehow.
My zipcode is 03103 if it matters.
Thankyou for any responses.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi, @SAM300. Have you tried checking our Satellite Test channel may appear in the guide on channels 9501 - 9514? If Satellite Test channel appears in the guide, your receiver is set to the correct dish configuration. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Specialist

You don't use any single transponder. You aim the dish at the 101 sat and get it to the strongest readings on all transponders as possible then you switch to the 99 sat and do the same. The103 is so close to the 99 it doesn't need anything done to it. Use the transponder listing menu not the % menu that you posted.

Hello Shannon02,
Thankyou for your insight and reply. I have to use the signal meter and volume high when im on roof to aim dish. So when im trying to align 99ca the system chooses transp 9... i should dither to that at its best peak signal and not a transponder with the lowest number on 99° and103° will fall into place at its peak as well?
This is what my transp list shows-
32 total at 101°
1-8 98,95,97,96,97,95,98,95
9-16 98,95,98,96,97,95,99,95
17-24 98,96,98,96,97,95,99,95
25-32 98,96,99,97,98,96,99,96
16 total at 99°ca
1-8 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a
9-16 85,77,83,79,82,79,79,75
17-24 79,76,80,75,79,74,77,76
25-32 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a
Should i bother to dither to 99(cb) or (s)?
All my channels have a good picture unless theres a storm approaching and just trying to stop the signal loss and tv going out from happening if possible as the wifey gets mad. Best Regards

AFAIK DTV removed the audio beeping from the HD receivers because of the need to fine tune the 99/103 sats
You are missing transponders so you may have an LNB/cable problem.

My signal strength meters do beep and i dont carry all dtv 900 channels. I do however receive all the channels i pay for on preffered xtra. So i dont believe i have a cable /lnb issue...And isnt the n/a transponders due to dtv's spot beaming of channels which i dont need?
Any insight to my first reply to you about dish pointing?
Best Regards)))

Nope, the locals are on the 99/103 S transponders.
