Volume level low using directv genie to soundbar

I currently have a Sony A90J, a Sony HTA7000 soundbar and a directv set top box.  The set top box is connected to the tv using an hdmi cable.  When I watch tv using directv's set top box the volume is always low.  I have to turn the volume up so much higher than when I use the tv for streaming apps.  Its a pain to have to adjust the volume every time you go from watching directv to watching different apps like youtube, prime, or any other streaming option.  Is this a directv problem?  Is there any type of setting that might be causing it?

What directv receiver model are you using? How is the soundbar currently connected to the TV? Has this volume issue been existent in the past?

the genie is an HR54-200.  The soundbar is connected to the tv via hdmi as well, into the eArc port.  This has been an issue ever since I've had the tv and soundbar, for about a year now.

If there is a way to get straight from the HR54 to the soundbar, this may improve audio quality. The only worry would be being able to get both your TV and your DIRECTV receiver connected separately to the soundbar at the same time. Unless, of course, the soundbar has multiple inputs and sources that allow for different devices to be hardwired into it at the same time (just requiring the change of audio input for the TV streaming apps to go through the soundbar).

I tried moving the hdmi cable so it goes straight from genie stb to the soundbar.  My soundbar has 2 other hdmi inputs.  However no change to the sound.  I guess I will have to live with it.  The other thing that is really strange to me is that if I turn off the soundbar while watching directv the sound directly from the tv speakers is as loud as the streaming apps.  So when using streaming apps the soundbar is fine.  When using the set top box the tv speakers are fine.  But when using the set top box with the soundbar it is so low.
