TV Ratio on HR24/500 Receiver
I change the TV Ratio on the Receiver to 16:9, but after leaving that screen, and choosing TV Ratio again, it always flips the ratio back to 4:3. Why is this happening?

Try pressing the red reset button behind the right hand door.

What's the brand of your TV? Is it the same issue with other TVs? Try to reset your DIRECTV box, @StephenHaddon. If the problem continues, let us know. We have a specialist ready to help. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

I am using an HDMI connection from the receiver to the TV. I tried another HDMI port on my TV, but same result. It appears that there is a bug in my new HR24 receiver that will not allow me to change the TV ratio. Can you help me?? Thank you.

I hope to hear from anyone on this issue. I have tried EVERTHING under the sun, but nothing fixes the problem. Please know that I am NOT stupid! I have reset the receiver 5 times now. I even unplugged it, and plugged it back in. Same result. I am an electronics expert. Please know that you are not hearing from a person with no knowledge of DirectV, etc. Everything that has been suggested to me, I have already done. It is something else that is the problem. I think there is a bug in the DirectV HR24 receiver. This is a NEW Hr24. My old HR24 never had this issue. I had to replace it because after many years, it failed. But this issue never existed on my previous HR24. Thank you. Steve

Shannon,
Of course, I have rebooted the receiver multiple times. What you suggested will not fix the issue. It is something else. Thanks anyway. Steve

John,
After many attempts at fixing this problem, I am convinced that the HR24 needs a firmware/software update that can be downloaded and applied to my receiver. I don't find any other solution. Of course, I have contacted DirectV Tech Support, and they have advised that I have a bad receiver. But they are NOT technically adept whatsoever, and just offer a replacement box. That will not correct this issue. A replacement box will do the exact same thing. The issue is that there is a bug in the firmware that is loaded to this receiver, and the firmware needs to have an upgrade, and then downloaded to the user's receiver. I see no other solution other than this. Thanks. Steve

I have given up on this. Other than applying a firmware/software update to this receiver, I see no other solution. Believe me, if you comment with a solution? I have already tried EVERYTHING, including all comments. Believe me, I am NOT a child, who does not know anything about DirectV receivers. I have 30 years experience with them. I have much more experience than the DirectV technical support personnel, who reside in some other country, and can only read something. They are without any real technical knowledge, and I am weary of trying to explain a solution to them. I may as well be beating my head against the wall!

Please advise the manufacturer of DirectV receivers that the HR24 has a major bug in the software/firmware. That bug needs a fix applied to it, and then downloaded to the user's receiver. There is NO OTHER solution. Fiddling around with the Display alternatives cannot, and will not fix this issue. It is above all of that. Steve
