TCL TV and DirectV C61K

Can’t get my brand new TCL TV mod#98S550G to display DirectV programming in anything but 720P.  The C61K says my TV will only display resolutions 1080P and 4K, not 1080i or 720P?  Obviously it does display at least 720P as it does it.  Anyone out there with this same TV and problem?  All my equipment in the signal path are high speed and brand new, HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.1.

Are you plugged into the HDMI1 port on the TCL TV, and have you ensured that the HDMI-cable is 4K capable and not damaged in any way? Moreover, does this issue occur when plugging in other HDMI devices into the TCL TV?

Thanks for the quick response, @detuch254
Hi there. Your comment has caught our attention, @Chrgri217. Have you checked to make sure your HDMI connection is securely connected? You can try unplugging/re-plugging the HDMI cable from the back of your TV. Let us know if that helps. Ariane, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Thanks for the replies everyone.  Yes to both Detuch254 and DIRECTV Help.  I am connected to HDMI input 1 on the TV, which supports 4K@144 Hz.  This problem is not present with any other equipment connected to my TV, which is a long list, Apple TV 4K, Fire Cube 4K, Roku 4K, Anthem MRX-740, etc.   Also my cables are high speed Ethernet HDMI 2.1 HDCP 2.2 capable.  I already tried to unplug and replug the HDMI cable into both devices, that is not the problem. The signal from the C61K works just fine with 4K channels and also plays back on-demand content in 1080p, so the cables are NOT the problem.  I have even reset the C61K using the reset button, I have unplugged it, I have even used the hold down EXIT button on the remote control process to reboot the tv resolutions on the C61K back to SD and then back to HD.  Nothing has worked.  The C61K is still only allowing 720p output on normal channels.  Attached are some pics for reference.

What do you mean by "normal channels"?  Broadcast and most cable channels are delivered in 720p or 1080i HD formats.

Never got a DM from anyone at DirecTv, but I will post the work-around for this problem.  The TCL tv I have (model 98S550G) simply will not play 1080i signals except for off-air signals.  The tv will downgrade the 1080i signal from a aC61K receiver to 720P.  So the work-around is to use the DirecTv app through a streaming device, like Roku, Apple TV, etc. The DirecTv app is amazing and allows for playback in higher resolutions, including on demand content.  So there it is, hopes this helps someone else out.
