TCL Roku Tv/Genie Remote

I am able to set up the Genie remote with the Roku TV (TCL 4 series S453) in that the remote works fine when in Satellite TV Mode... in that all the buttons work as expected.  And when in the Roku menu however, only the volume and power on/off work from the Genie remote.  However, I am unable to get any of the Navigation arrows or Select button to work while in the Roku menu.  Therefore, I always need the two remotes, as only the Roku remote navigation works when in the Roku menu.  How do I reprogram to get around this, as I would want to be able to just have the one Genie remote.  Every 'how to program' I watch and try seems to work, but just for the volume and on/off, not the extended directional buttons (when in the Roku menu).  As it is, to turn on the DirectTV 'TV', I need to turn on the TV & DirectTV box with DirectTV/Genie remote, then use the Roku remote to navigate and select 'Satellite TV (DirectTV)', then go back to the use the DirectTV/Genie remote from then on.  Is it not possible to 'fully' control the Roku TV with the Genie remote?  Do I need to buy a different programmable remote (like RC6RX) if I want to control both with one remote??

You might need a "Learning " remote for the TCL. Many threads here about TCL brand having difficulties with DTV remotes....the RC7x series of remotes seem to be better in that regard, but those remotes can't individually control your equipment. Curious what code you found to work for your TCL tv on the "RC6RX"?

Yeah, the cheap DirecTV remote won't be able to do that. Consider a nice universal remote, like Logitech Harmony.

All DTV remotes only do on/off and volume on the TV they are not made to do anything else.

I just had to get a new TV, it is a TCL Roku 4 series.

Im having the same problem that 3dogsX was having. I did not have that problem with the replaced TCL Roku or the other TCL Roku TV I have. I have full control of all functions with the DirectTV remote.

To be clear, I’m talking about and think 3DogsX was also about using a Gemini Box Direct TV system. It is not a cheat remote.

Does anyone have an new updates?
