TC 71 and 73 remote

I have Direct TV. Recently my puppy got ahold of my RC71 remote and a couple of buttons don’t work properly. It was programmed to the Direct TV receiver and my Samsung tv, along with being able to turn the volume up and down on my Denon AVR-3319CI receiver. I was able to obtain a RC73 remote from my neighbor who had it laying around and wasn’t using it. I replaced the Batteries. I can get it to control everything except the volume up and down on the Denon receiver. I’ve googled and You Tube everything and can’t find anything about programming it to turn my volume up and down on the Denon.Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@Baggerdave, we’re sorry to hear your RC71 is not working properly. Please use the following steps to program the Audio Device using the RC73remote.

1. Make sure the Genie Remote has RF enabled.

2. From the remote, select Menu > Settings > Remote Control > Pair/Program Remote > Program Audio Device.

Enter their audio device brand and mode.

If the screen shows Code Transmission Failed, have them select Try Again.

3. An OSD asks them to confirm the code works by pressing VOL+. Vol + - Screenshot

4. Once the audio device is successfully programmed, and they select It Worked, they can use Volume Lock to ensure the volume key on the remote operates the audio device instead of the TV.

After the remote successfully programs to the audio device, select Change Volume Lock>Use Audio Device>OK.

We’re sending you a DM to help you if further assistance is needed.  Jhoan, DIRECTV Community Specialist
