Signal Loss in the morning

Hello,

My dish looses signal in the morning hours, however in the afternoon it works well. The signal strength in the morning is "0" on all sats and is very good 85 to 95 in the afternoon. What would cause this?

Some likely causes:

  • The dish is moving slightly due to temperature changes.
  • A loose/corroded coax connector with moisture that dries during the day.
  • A temperature-sensitive (defective) dish LNB

When did the problem start?

What troubleshooting have you tried?

How is your dish mounted?

How old is your installation?

Also could be a short stinger on one of the connections.

Litzdog 911 thanks for the response I appreciate your help.

When did the problem start? Its been intermittent the last several months

What troubleshooting have you tried? Realigned the dish, changed connectors on dish

How is your dish mounted? Roof mount with support bar

How old is your installation? Been up there for many years.

Its weird as it is working fine this morning.

Yesterday sat 101 had all zeros, today all 95 to 97

99ca 48 to 73

99cb 72-81

99s 99 and 97

103s 50,71,60

103a  69 to 83

103cb  72 to 83

95  0

Thanks for your help.

Your signal readings on 99 and 103 are low.

What type of dish do you have?  Do you really see the 95º satellite?  That's no longer supported on newer dishes.

It's a slimline dish...I just copied what the DVR had listed, 95 was just one of them but there was nothing there, so probably not used.

So with 99 and 103 being low, would it cause 101 which is in the 90's to go to zero?

Thanks again for thw help

If you're seeing 95º, then your DVR's dish setup is wrong.

Something else is wrong, though, if 101º goes to zero. Looks like you've done a fair bit of troubleshooting. My guess is leaning towards a defective LNB or coax cable connection somewhere.

I wish I could send a pic of the LNB. I have not been able to find a replacement, at least one at a reasonable cost. I'm not familiar if they are interchangeable or not.

You should be able to post a photo here. Or post a link to a photo.

Update: I don't want to jinx it, but i changed the LNB and the signal has not gone out since. Signal strength also increased in some of the sats without any adjustments. Keeping my fingers crossed.
