Severe red saturation on 4K Genie

I have a Samsung 4K TV connected to a 4K DirectTV Genie. Some programs are oversaturated with red in shadow areas, even when playback of recorded programs. The problem doesn't exist on my non-4k TV's when I playback the same recorded programs on them. I've swapped out my 4k Genie with a non-4k Mini Genie and the problem goes away (however I obviously don't get 4k channels). I called Directv service, and they sent me a new 4k Genie. That one didn't correct the problem. Samsung performed diagnostics on my 4k TV and found no issues.

magnumrush, do these red shadow areas only happen when watching shows on 4K channels? Does it happen when connecting the device to another TV? We will send you a Direct Message to assist you better. Jairo, DIRECTV Community Specialist

There are no 4K Genies only 4K mini clients.

This problem does not happen on 4K channels. They are perfect. It happens on directv channels like 260 for example. I have not tried connecting the 4k "client" to a different tv but I will. We only have one 4k TV so I didn't think of that. I did connect on of our mini genies to the 4k TV and the problem doesn't happen.

Shannon02.... Sorry wrong terminology but hopefully you knew what I meant. I'll try to remember to call it a client from now on. Thanks.

New update.... I just connected the 4k client to a non-4k TV. The picture is perfect on all channels. Since I had Samsung verify my 4k TV has no issues standalone, I can only assume there is a compatibility issue between a 4k DirecTV client and a 4k TV when viewing a non 4k channel. In summary.....

4K Client connected to 4K TV =bad

4k Client connected to non-4k TV =good on all channels

Mini Genie connected to 4K TV =good on all channels

We value these new updates provided after changing and plugging your devices into other TVs. We'd like to document it and gather even more information to find a resolution soon for possible compatibility issues between 4K Clients with 4K TVs. We've sent you a PM to start. My samsung does this too, 2016 4k model... getting new LG... it was this way with old DTV DVR, and it's this way with new Genie 2 and Gemini. SInce it did not change with complete change in DTV hardware, I have concluded it is TV
