service cuts out briefly and stops DVR from recording

HD DVR, Model HR23-700

lately been having issues that service cuts out briefly and stops the DVR from recording.   this evening it happened 8 times when i tried to record a program while watching 1 other show and while watching the show I am recording.   even when I stopped recording, service cut out.   doesn't matter the channel.     no error message displays.

any thoughts?

I am doing a reset now, pressing the red button.  it takes almost 1/2 hour for it to complete.    reset didn't fix the issue.  still happening.

DTV only has the HR54 Genie or the HS17 Genie2 that is a mini client only system that both need a composite 10 pin din cable.

All HRXX are HDDVRs.  DTV may only have HS17s Genie2 as a replacement.

install today.  we'll see how long I am happy.

my receiver was so old the plastic feet on the bottom were almost all gone.

and tech/installer even had a 10pin connector on his truck to replace my connection to RF Modulator :) :) :)   @shannon02 thanks for the info on the 10pin connector.  I know have an extra as one arrived bwo Amazon today too.

@kenneth - none of those listed are valid for my issue.

It doesn't take a half hour to reboot, since that is a very old model number, the hard drive maybe going bad or there is a signal problem.

it might be time to upgrade my receiver, however it must be a Genie w/composite connections in addition to HDMI

Sounds like the HR23 hard drive is failing. You can call DIRECTV for a replacement.

You have a ghost messing with your DVR. Have you had trouble with ghosts before ? You need to get rid of the ghost to solve the problem !

You will need a composite 10 pin din cable to plug into a mini client except for the C61K mini client that doesn't have the A/V output jack or the HR54 Genie, DTV may send you one or you can buy it online and it is possible the tech may have one.

@shannon02   don't want any mini client.  just a regular HR43 Genie w/composite plugs.  I did see Amazon sells a AV outlet jack cable adapter to composite plugs.     just more concerned that the agent at DTV will not give me what I need in receiver.  if they mess up, i'll just leave DTV.
