Return equipment

I need to return my equipment. I have gotten nothing. I need to know where I can return the equipment. I’ve called several times and they said it will be in the mail. I’ve gotten no return labels at all. Please help me get this equipment back to you.

Hello @Rosinski50

Returning your equipment is fast and easy. Simply bring your unboxed equipment and account number to a FedEx Office Print and Ship Center or The UPS Store. You will receive a receipt that confirms your return. For more information, please visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093574 If you have any other questions, we are here to help. Thank you for contacting DIRECTV. Andrea, DIRECTV Community Specialist

What are the receiver models of ALL of the equipment that you currently have? It may not have to be returned to directv if the equipment is non-returnable.

I was about to post the same question.  I cancelled my satellite server a week ago and still haven't received any email or letter about what needs to be returned.  I have the following equipment:

HR54-200

HR44-500

HR24-200

C41-500

The HR54 is returnable and since you can't have 2 Genies on the same account that HR44 needs to be rechecked.  The HR24 is not returnable and the C41 is iffy but a UPS/FedEx store may still take them.

Yes, my HR44 failed and they sent HR54 replacement.  I still had issues and decided to cancel my service the next day.  So I should just be able to take it all to UPS Store and have them send it back?

If anything take the HR54, HR44, and HR24 to the UPS Store for acceptance. I don't even think they want the C41, debatable on the HR24 if they want it back but I'd bring it just in case. Be sure to keep your receipt as it is your proof of return.

I also took pictures of the model and serial tag, not just the receipt that I sent something to DTV

So it appears if they really did not want it, they never acknowledge receipt, another poor customer practice.

Called on the phone, they told me to return, nothing else.

My shipper (UPS) was clueless, except that it was free shipping. I could have sent 5 pounds of dog droppings as long as it was in a box that said DirecTV somewhere!

You are not supposed to box anything UPS/FedEx scans the receivers into the DTV system then bulk returns them to DTV so it would appear that wasn't an UPS store but a drop off place.

Shannon, you just misunderstand...

I took 2 Directv boxes (one a receiver and one a dvr), so my comment was: I I took a black metal box that said DirecTV to the UPS store, they did not check the model or serial or anything.

I'm responding to YOUR post:

"The HR54 is returnable and since you can't have 2 Genies on the same account that HR44 needs to be rechecked.  The HR24 is not returnable and the C41 is iffy but a UPS/FedEx store may still take them."

By saying, the UPS store would basically take ANY black box that even looked close, they NEVER looked or asked about the model number

THUS, my tongue in cheek post that they would accept a box of dog poop as long as it said DirecTV..

Also, why do you have to accuse people of not telling the truth? Do I have to post my pictures and ups receipts to make you stop insulting me?

I called DirecTV, no return box, they wanted the items back after I gave the model numbers. "Just take to UPS or FedEx"

THIS IS TRUE

this is what Shannot said: "so it would appear that wasn't an UPS store but a drop off place."

So he is saying I am lying....  period...

So you don't believe me either... tough...

Let's boil it down.

There's a lot of "pat" answers on this forum. "This is the way it works" we are admonished, even telling people the message on their screen is impossible.

So I pointed out a clear example of it not working the "pat" way.

This forum is here to help people, not tell them they are wrong, or they went to the wrong store, or the store was not UPS, or the employees were not trained.

It should be here to help people.

The bottom line here is there are plenty of examples of "holes" in the return system, and I got NO acknowledgement of receipt by DTV.

This does not instill confidence in the system. Perhaps DTV will read things like this and IMPROVE the company. I don't care whose responsibility in the chain of events is:

I'm the CUSTOMER, I PAY for the service, and often the SERVICE is LACKING.

Point painfully made.

Thanks to all who provided inputs.  I returned my equipment yesterday to UPS Store and brought everything, HR24, HR44, HR54, two C41 and all the associated power supplies.  Luckily at my store, the clerk was very familiar with the process and it was a quick in and out.  The receipt I got listed all the items and showed accessories were included.  The clerk told me to hold on to the receipt for a year in case DirecTV tries any shenanigans.
