Replacement remotes cost money?

Remotes are only free if you are on one of the protection plans. Otherwise there is a charge. My understanding  is that you will find them cheaper on Amazon or Walmart (can try Best Buy and others  too)

Remotes are owned accessories so you have to pay to replace them unless as stated you have a protection plan and they are cheaper online.

That’s kind of ridiculous since I have a $200 a month bill and 7 boxes, with 7 remotes !

Been this way since DTV started.

Direct TV has gotten much too expensive and now, with many of the shows, you still have to stream for an extra cost. There is virtually nothing left to watch on Direct TV. I've had it for over 20 years and every year, it goes up and you get less. I wouldn't recommend it anymore to anyone. Just my thoughts, but consider getting Roku and streaming channels. All in all, I think it ends up being less expensive. 

DTV has no control over what the channels send them, this is the same for all TV providers including any streaming services with live TV channels.
