Remote stopped adjusting volume and turning on tv

I have a model Vizio tv. E371VL. and I have a relatively new main genie box (less than a year). The remote stopped adjusting the volume, won't mute, and won't turn off the tv. My power and volume buttons on the side of the tv work fine. I have three dtv remotes and a new one, RC73, that I just received from customer service today. I went through the set up/pairing process on and it is doing the same thing. I have unplugged the tv. and reset the genie several times. The tv and mini genie in the other room are working fine. I'm at a loss on my ideas on how to fix the problem.  Any ideas on the cause of my issue? Thank you for any help.

Hi @slhamilton. We're sorry you're having trouble with your remote. This issue may be caused by the remote not being fully programmed for the Genie receiver. All DTV remotes are preprogrammed to control all DTV receivers, it is only the TV that needs to be added.

Christian, I worked through all of the troubleshooters. None of them helped the issue. Shannon, I added my tv to the remote. Still having the same issue. No volume control. and remote will either turn on or turn off tv but not both. It's weird.

Thanks for letting me know. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps. Please try to reset the remote to its default factory setting:

1. Press and hold MUTE and SELECT together until the light flashes three times.
2. Press 9, 8, 1 and SELECT. The remote flashes four times and should now reset.

Afterwards, please set the remote to RF mode and try to program it again. To go to RF mode, please press and hold the MUTE and ENTER buttons simultaneously while pointing the remote at the receiver. The green light will flash while the remote communicates with the receiver. The IR/RF setup will automatically run, and will display "Your remote is now set up for RF" once successful. Afterwards, please program the remote to your TV. Please let me know if it works.

reset to factory default doesn't work for some reason. I spent a little over an hour with Guarav in chat and after going through all the trouble shooters. Nothing fixed the issue. He is sending me a universal remote to try. Thank you for your assistance. Will let you know if the universal works.
