remote not turning off denon avr-receiver
I have a denon avr-s650h home theater setup with directv. This particular setup is connected to a directv mini genie. The remote used to power on/off the genie, the tv and the avr. But now for some reason the tv and genie power off, but the avr doesn't turn off. It does power it on. I tried resetting everything, the TV, genie and avr. Same issue. The TV is an older Panasonic plasma, TC-P58V10 so I can't find where the CEC is set on it, but the TV doesn't have any issue. I made sure the Denon has the hdmi control ON. But what is really strange is that when I go into the settings on the mini genie hdmi control is set to ON. When I turn the setting to OFF then everything works. The remote powers off/on the tv, avr and genie. That doesn't make sense. When I change the setting back to ON in the mini genie once again the tv and genie power off but NOT the avr. I will keep the setting to OFF but maybe somebody can explain why this is happening.

My guess is that CEC is running in two places when you have it on in the Genie, and the two are "fighting". When I had this situation I was getting nonsensical on and off in my system, which is a Gemini, TV and Denon receiver.
Turning CEC off at the DTV box seems to be allowing CEC to work for the Denon.

Thank you for your input, @gregeusa. After consulting with our team, we have identified that the issue may be due to a conflict with HDMI-CEC. To resolve this, you only need to turn on the 'main' device, as it will then be able to control the other connected devices using the signal it receives. This is because the main device will distribute the command to the other connected devices. The device that is receiving the HDMI signal is considered the 'master' or 'parent', and when CEC is enabled on the 'slave' or 'child' devices (the other HDMI OUTs), it can sometimes cause conflicts with the commands. We hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing DIRECTV.
