Oh wow, I didn’t expect that answer. Before I switched to DirecTV I was with Xfinity and in their system you can recover deleted shows. That’s too bad. DiectTV ought to look into updating their system.
A recycle bin idea like a traditional computer has been requested for a long time, but for some reason DirecTV has not attempted to put that function in their DVRs. Unknown if simply a business decision or a licensing issue.
As a note, recordings are encrypted to the exact DVR they were recorded on. So there is no way to transfer recordings, not even if you were using an external hard drive. Mentioning so there are no wrong expectations down the road.

It was a recent episode and so it hasn’t made it to on-demand yet. Plus there weren’t any other showings for now. I guess I’ll just have to wait a little while longer and eventually I’ll find it. Thanks for your help. 😊
Things like this can make us regret, having switched over from Xfinity! I don't think you can recover any sporting event, for instance, that you have inadvertently deleted. To make things worse, when you navigate to the "garbage can" icon when you you're in the library, it is easy to mistakenly delete the next saved recording down since when I hit the OK button see its details, I delete that one, too, since the cursor remains over the delete icon. Also, I'd suggest that you equip your phone support people limited radius microphones, since all the background voices make it difficult to hear them.

You can record them again.
People have been asking for that for 20 odd years doubt it will ever happen.
