Records wrong channel
When I set my Directv to record a CBS program (Channel 8) it switches to record the program on Channel 391, then tells me it is a pay channel I don't have access to.

Are you setting the program you want (on channel 8) from the guide or from the search function?
If you are setting it from the search function the show may be on 391 before it is schedules on 8. Go the the series manager Menu>recordings>view playlist >manage recordings > series manager and delete any entry for the show. Return to the guide - channel 8 - find the show you desire - set up recording and options (ie first run etc). Go back to the series manager move show up /down as desired (note last show setup will be at the bottom of the list)
‘if you did set recording up from the guide to begin with I would still try deleting it from the series manager and resetting as above
hope this helps

Don’t know why it is more prevalent on CBS but if you delete any entries for the show(s) off of the “recording manager” and reset the show to record from the guide - use your remote - go to the show you want - on the channel you want and set it to record (with options) from there it should fix the issue.

I specifically deleted the series recording from my recording manager for BOTH NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. I reset my recording each series on the guide on the correct channel (13 for me in No Cal). I am STILL getting the east coast feed channel being recorded for both shows. I DO NOT KNOW WHY? I have done this 3 times. Meanwhile Bull records correctly. HELP!

This is a known problem, the only fix is to set up manual recordings.

It has been reported on ABC also. But its a problem CBS should be able to fix.

I have the same problem, and it has been happening for some time, but seems to be getting worse. Programs are set up to record on the west coast network channels but get switched to east coast which then do not record. This happens whether the recording is set up from recording manager or directly from the guide. As result we miss several programs. Is there any work around?

DirecTV customer service told me last week that some channels are owned by Cox and they are being withheld because of contract negotiations.

That was settled on Sunday before the Super Bowl.

These channels are not being withheld. If we check the to-do list and find the upcoming recording set for the east coast channel, we can delete the recording and reset it to the west coast channel. The program will then record. This will usually work for the upcoming program, but may later programs may get switched to the east later. This requires us to constantly monitor upcoming schedule and change each one that has been switched.

Not sure why you are getting the DNS channels as the FCC allowed the Act that allowed DTV and all other providers to use them expired last year on July 31.

Actually I am NOT receiving DNS channels. When a program schedule switches the channel to a distant network, the program does not record, I get an error message that that channel is not authorized. I have not been eligible for DNS for many years. My question is why are my recording settings being changed?

That we don't know as stated you have to setup manual recording.
