recording problem
I have set up a number of series programs to record one of which is “NCIS New Orleans” on the ION channel which is a channel that is carried with my subscription package. After a week or so, when I check the recording list I find that a lot of the episodes have a $ symbol at the end of the season episode display. I was told by an agent on the phone that it would be recorded over when that episode aired and the symbol would be replaced and would play without the $2.99 charge. That is not true. Today I could watch the season and episodes on Ion and they were not recorded over. I even selected one of the episodes to record and that episode is still set to charge the $2.99. I spent time talking on the phone after using the Chat trying to resolve the problem. I think having to pay for a recorded episode of a program that is aired on ION or any channel that is part of my package is wrong.
The phone conversation today with Shawn obtained an answer of “ It is a problem with the content provider who charges for some episodes” I do not think that is a correct answer. A search on the Internet verifies my thoughts. I would hope there is a better answer but can’t find the right contact person to ask. Can anyone help?

Have you set the series recording for NCIS New Orleans directly from the Guide on your DIRECTV receiver? This can be done by hovering over the program in the Guide, and pressing the record button (R) TWICE.

yeah, forces the system to record from that specific channel, not "look for" other sources..
a real pain, there needs to be some setting to lock out recording of anything that costs money.

It is the content provider that is charging for their On Demand programs, DTV is only collecting it. Using the guide to setup recordings will prevent recording the On Demand versions.
