recording problem post 2

Recording problem post 2, 2/22/24

Since I could not get a straight answer from support I thought of a way that might solve my TV series recording problem. My problem is when I selected a channel that was airing the Series (ION) the recordings were mostly from some Pay per View channel. Paying $2.99 for an episode that will air for free is not what I want. I was told by an agent that the pay per view would be recorded over when that episode was aired. That did not occur on at least 3 episodes of a series. Later I did find some episodes did record as free but the pay per view episode was still there. This didn’t seem consistent for all series. That reduces the storage capacity in half unless you delete (one at a time) the pay per view episodes. The HS-500 (Genie 2??) can’t have an external HD added to it as was my understanding. I have blocked all pay per view channels to attempt a solution for the $2.99 an episode. To soon to have any results. Has anyone else tried this?

Duplicate post, closing. Please refer to your original post. My suggestion there was to go directly to the Guide, go to the ION channel, and scroll until you see an airing of NCIS. From there, when hovered over NCIS, press the “R” button TWICE on your directv remote. This will trigger a series recording for NCIS on JUST the ION channel.
