Recorded programs and internet data limits
When I press the red button on my DirecTV remote to record a TV program, where is the data stored (the data that constituted the TV program?) Years ago, the recorded data was stored on a DVR that was physically connected to the TV. Is the data stored on my Genie? Is it stored in the cloud? If it is stored in the cloud, my network must be handling the data transfer, and the recording is counting toward the data limit imposed by my internet service provider. I need to understand this process so I can reduce the number of programs I record or purchase more internet data.
I'd appreciate clarification on this.

The programs are recorded to the hard drive if you are using DTV sat service, The HR44,HR54 Genies and the HS17Genie2 all have hard drives. On Demand, start from the beginning and paying for PPV with the remote all use your internet data.

Thank you, shannon02. I have asked 3 Directv employees to answer this question and all I got was gobby goop and a sales pitch to sign up for streaming. I have a HS17 Genie 2 so I'm good.
Another question, if you'll entertain it. Can you tell me why I keep getting the message, "wait while video buffers" when I'm trying to play back a recording? That made me think downloading is going on somewhere.

Programs recorded from the sat channels don't use the internet but it is possible you are recording the On Demand versions that do use the internet, most On Demand channels have a "1" in front of the channel number like 1244 the sat channel is 244.
