Record to DVR when away from home network

I have the DirecTV App and I used to be able to record shows remotely. Now when I am not on the same WiFi network, the app will not let me record when remote. 

I have DIRECTV Genie2 HS17 / DVR Server.

Is this a widespread issue?

You should still be able to record remotely. Are you using the latest DIRECTV application available? All remote bookings are done over satellite 101, so no Wi-Fi involved. Sometimes this can happen when you try to record shows that are currently not airing. When it gets to the HS17, the remote booking is cancelled.

whenever I try and record remote, it shows me this message. I was on the live chat with tech-support earlier today and they said there is no feature to record remotely and it had been disabled in the app which I thought was bizarre. 

I just tried to record a random program while remote and keep getting this error.

In the second image, click ‘Options’ to make sure you are recording to the HS17 and not a Client or something (yes, it’s a bug with the app and clients do Not Record).

Additionally, try recording something from a regular channel like GSN to see if the issue is still there.

I had the same issue after updating app, when I clicked options I found there was a second DVR with the same name but in small letters instead of all caps and that worked. Then went under "settings, preferences record options" and I could select default receiver and now it works.....

How do you delete programs which are set up to repeatedly record on my Direct TV DVR?
