Receiver keeps searching for software update

I just got two new receivers (HD receivers, no DVR) and I expected they would go through the normal software updates.  But they are both going through the download process and not finding anything to download.  This is getting annoying as the download pop-up comes up every few hours.  Is there some way to get this fixed so it stops or finds the update?

From where did you get those two HD Receivers?

What are their model numbers?

It's possible that the relevant software for those models is not currently in the satellite download stream.

Model H25-100 for both receivers.  It was purchased through DirecTV and installed by their technician.

Try unplugging power for a minute and then one at a time boot them back up. That might clear anything stuck in memory that isn't allowing the update to go through.

Remember "purchased" isn't owned, but the one-time lease cost if you don't have a free upgrade.

What are the models of your other boxes? Any issues there, or are just these two having issues?

Thank you.  Just these boxes.  Had this problem with other receivers in the past but can't remember what was done to fix it.  I will try unplugging.

Make sure the dish configuration is correct under satellite setup

Looks like there are no downloads in the stream for those receivers. That might be just temporary over the holiday . But your install tech should have sorted this out before he left.

Only thing I  can suggest is wait and see. Make sure you do not disconnect the receivers from power, the download might occur during the night.

Tech came out and forced download.  All fixed!

it was temporary. after the holiday the download appeared in the stream so it would have fixed itself without the tech.

How did the tech "force a download"? I'm having the exact same problem, but our programing automatically goes off every 5mins or so. Sooo annoying. We were unable to watch any TV all day.

We never recommend forcing a download as 90% of the time you get the same version you have but there are time you can get a beta testing download that can brick the receiver.
