Pairing Yamaha soundbar with remote
I have a Yamaha yas101 soundbar the direct tv remote works for volume up and down but does not turn on or off soundbar. I have reached out to direct tv technician and he could not fix it

Right, the RC7X nor the RC8X remotes are made to control the on/off of any soundbars or A/V receivers, they rely on HDMI-CEC to do that, DTV calls it HDMI control what Yamaha calls it you need to find out.
