No Local Channels on my SD receiver

I have an SD receiver. I am unable to get local channels through m Carryout Gen 1, and my receiver seems only capable of using satellite 101. Is there a way to get my local channels back?

Nope, DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 SD channels although the 101 sat will continue to have a few MPEG4 channels that will need an MPEG4 receiver to get them.

@Moorhead27

If your equipment is MPEG-2/SD-only, then the answer is no with your current setup. DirecTV has been slowly shutting down those feeds as SD-only is obsolete.

Going forward you must have MPEG-4/SD and HD capable equipment. The Winegard Carryout must be replaced with a slimline SWM dish set on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler.

DirecTV has a complimentary MPEG swap program as this is a mandatory update. However, only what is installed in the home is covered. Your mobile setup would be at your own cost through an authorized RV installer.

What are the models of each box you have now? Just to be sure so you don't replace more than absolutely necessary.

An important note, you cannot get locals once outside your home spot beam for the satellite. Once you travel outside your area you would need a regular digital antenna on your TV to get locals within range for where you are traveling.

@Juniper  my dad has the winegard G3 carry out on a small cabin in a remote area without service. Up until about 6 months ago - he has has been able to get local channels. He has made several phone calls to direct TV and they can’t tell him what he needs to get the local channels. Can you give me any information?
