My Directv remote stops working except for turning on and off with my Samsung TV
I have tried several remotes and have replaced the mini genie with a new one. I have reset the remotes many times. Everything works for awhile but after turning off the TV and using it again after a few days or weeks the remotes again stop functioning except for turning on and off the mini Genie. You can go to guide but can't exit it or change channels. Nothing. The Genie turns on the TV but doesn't turn it off. I don't care about that but it is impossible to use DirectV with a remote that has limited functions.

Hi, @pjjacob. Let's get it fixed. Please try resetting the remote to its default factory settings:
- Press and hold MUTE and SELECT together until the light flashes three times.
- Press 9, 8, 1 and SELECT. The remote flashes four times and should now reset.
If nothing happening when you press GUIDE, make sure your remote is paired with your receiver. Rizza, DIRECTV Community Specialist

A low battery may gradually stop the remote from working. Find your remote's model number (usually on the upper front left corner and starts with RC) and visit How to fix your DIRECTV remote | DIRECTV Support for some troubleshooting steps. John, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Are you using IR?

New batteries are in the remote. I cannot get to IR because when I reset the remote and link it to the mini genie I am not given that option. The screen just says RF connected.

Thanks for clarifying. Please share with us what the model number of your remote is, so we can further investigate. You can find your remote's model number (usually on the upper front left corner and starts with RC). Veilka, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Using RF rules out my idea that there is IR interference causing the problem.
