Moving a coax for my HD DVR hr 21 700

Hello,

I have a hr 21 700 and that is the only active box that I have.  I want to move the set up and upon install they went thru the floor.

Now I want to move the cable and I have a new line that was ran for my cable modem.  I am no longer using that line (moved to fiber internet) and want to use that coax cable,  Outside is a dish that a single cable runs into a 4 way splitter that used to carry signal to my

HR 21 700 and (not now) 3 hr 21 100's.  I have a dual cable the runs from the floor inside my house and is divided and 1 single line is running into a 2 way splitter and into a powered svm that feeds a single line into a old whole home connector)dongle) via coax into the coax of the box.

My questions

1 can I get rid of the splitter outside my house and run a single cable into the newer coax that is closer/better for my decor and does it need to be grounded

2 can I use the newer single cable to run direct from the dish to the 2 way splitter in my house so a single coax cable to feed my 2 tuner dvr

3 do I still need the old home connection dongle from the back of my box.  I have the box connected via ethernet but this setup was from ages ago when I had whole home dvr about 10 years ago.

Thanks in advance

Dale

There should be a grounding block on the dish coax before it goes into the house that grounds everthing.

The only time you can use a splitter is with a SWM system so there needs to be a power inserter and you need to connect it to the red power pass through port on the SWM splitter.  Any RG6 preferably solid copper core will work.  You will still need the  Connected Home adapter to connect to the internet for On Demand to the HR21 and also the DECA BB still needs to be connected to your router/Gateway and the SWM splitter.

Thank you for that.  Just to be sure I'm getting this right- the line that was ran into from my cable company is a rg6 cable I can use a single line from the dish to this cable and connect it to the 2 splitter in my house.   Can you think of any reason I should leave the 4 splitter from outside and put it as a single input into my house??

If you still need internet to the HR21 then you need a 4way for the power inserter and the coax from the DECA BB

Thanks for that.  Thankfully I only need to move from the current coaxial to this new one.  I don't plan on moving/removing anything else.

My current coax feed is an eyesore and it's not easy to move that current cable so I hope that new coax cable that was ran from outside can replace the old DTV coax that was ran.  I plan to remove the 4 cable splitter and try to run it straight off the satellite coax and use a coax to coax cable adapter to connect them outside and let the newest single line RG6 coax to the 2 prong splitter that feeds into a powered (I think it's a svm) but it's a powered black box where 2 cables go into a single box that goes into the cable box and the other line from the svm goes to a DECA with a ethernet cable plugged in....

I think this is the plan I have and think it should work.    I have a smaller splitter that I can replace the old 4 port splitter with but hopefully will work.

You still need the power inserter connected to the dish coax to feed the SWM LNB

Thanks so so much for help, so sorry to be so needy...... currently I have these 3 devices that the coax runs to from the splitter.  I think if I have a RG6 cable that runs from the satellite dish to the 4 way splitter (that I hope to get rid of) and connect that cable to the new one via coax cable  joiner and connect the other end to the coax splitter inside the house-  Hopefully everything else will be the same.

sorry for the links but not sure how to add pic's to this post
